CHARITY NEWS: A team of five runners from Bath-based integrated marketing agency, The Agency completed the Bath Half Marathon at the weekend, to raise over £600 for the Great Western Air Ambulance charity.
Managing Director, Sammy Mansourpour, Client Services Director Jon Dunbar, Media Manager Ian Young, Account Executive Alex Palmer and Social Media Manager, Lucy Aston completed the 13.1 mile course alongside 15,000 other runners including Radio 1 Presenter Greg James, and comedian Russell Howard.
Sammy said: “The whole team did incredibly well in finishing the Bath Half and raising money for such a worthy cause. For many of The Agency team it was their first Half Marathon, which makes it even more of an achievement. It costs £2 million a year for the GWAAC to stay operational and relies entirely on the generosity of the people they serve to continue operating.”
GWAAC is essentially a flying A&E Department, bringing the hospital to the patients. The team fly seven days a week, 365 days a year and attend more than 100 incidents per month, providing one of the busiest air ambulances in the UK.
Ella Mayne, Community Fundraising Coordinator from Great Western Air Ambulance Charity said: “We really appreciate the support of The Agency and their fantastic efforts in running the Bath Half for us. The money they have raised through sponsorship will go towards keeping their local air ambulance flying. Great Western Air Ambulance Charity receives no day to day government funding and so relies on the support of the communities it serves to continue flying. Last year 18.7 % of our missions occurred in BANES so we really need the support of those in the area in order to remain operational. We carry a Critical Care Doctor and a Critical Care Paramedic to each mission, providing the best possible pre-hospital care. Thank you to The Agency for choosing to support us and help raise awareness of the lifesaving work of our crew and aircraft.”
