By Katie Oliver – Hayesfield School, Bath: Work Experience at AgencyUK
It was a winning week for The Agency last week! Fresh from taking five chips and the Grand Prix in the Chip Shop Awards and a gong at the RAR Digital Awards – last Friday the whole company took the day off to compete in the Bath Boules Championship – not to mention a fierce dressing up competition.
AgencyUK’s team otherwise known as The “Discoboules” rose to the challenge and the 70s disco-themed costumes shone in the summer sun from 9.30am to the evening (even if it was only AgencyUK’s crazy and wacky outfits!). Nevertheless The “Discoboules” were not fazed by the sparkles and sequins of the fancy dress and refused to let the Boules take a back seat! They remained focused and played a commendable competition. In fact they were so successful that they made it not only to the semi-finals, but the finals.
Nerves were running high (and the Champagne was flowing) as Planning Director Matt Rees, Digital Designer Matt Griffin, and Jon Dunbar The Agency’s Client Service’s Director took their positions on ‘the Piste’ to play the final game. The hustle and bustle of the fellow companies and fans died down as the three players took a deep breath and began…
The trio played hard and despite their heroic efforts they were sadly not able to conquer the opposing team. But this small defeat of 11-5 was not enough to crush the high spirits of AgencyUK – who took victory in the fancy dress competition!
