Top TV commercials that have been the most viewed on YouTube this year. This year’s chart for the UK market highlights businesses’ ambition to catch consumers’ attention through more creative and amusing ads than ever before.

Honda scooped the gold medal in YouTube’s most popular ads category this year with its beautifully filmed “Spark” TV ad supporting the launch of its new Civic model, reported by Marketing Week. The ad excelled in the channel’s TrueView stream, which gives viewers choice and control over which advertisers’ messages they want to see and when.

The second most popular video ad was again promoting a new car make, this time Peugeot’s 208 model. The commercial stars YouTube dancing sensation Marquese Scott, also known as “Nonstop”, moving to Rudimental’s “Feel The Love”. Durex’s Vinyl ad, which impressed viewers with its male and female turntables, each playing Marvin Gaye’s track “Let’s Get It On” at different speeds, was ranked third by YouTube.

Along with the release of the chart, YouTube also provided some tips for businesses hoping to make best use of the channel and attract as many viewers as possible. The website advises brands to create original and interactive ads to make sure that users will want to share the video with friends. Also key to a successful video ad is providing the type of content for which there’s solid evidence people are happy to see online, such as humorous music videos.
