Who should you hire first? We chose potential

We’ve been featured in The Drum, with our co-founder and commercial director, Amy, sharing her perspective on one of the biggest early decisions for any agency: who to hire first.

Looking back at our early days, Amy reflects on the thinking behind how we built the business “to create a business that develops young talent and provides opportunities through apprenticeship schemes.” That focus on potential over experience has been there from the very beginning.

Our first hire set the tone. As Amy explains, “our first hire was Sam, a 19-year-old apprentice from a local college.” With no prior agency experience, we invested in her development, an approach that quickly proved its value. As Amy puts it, “taking a chance on someone can be hugely rewarding.”

That belief still shapes how we work today. We continue to partner with schools, colleges and universities to offer work experience, internships and apprenticeships, creating real opportunities for the next generation to get started in the industry.
